Mr. McDermott graduated with honors from the University of Chicago and is a graduate of the George Washington University Law School. He was admitted to the New York Bar in 1997 and is also admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York as well as the United States Court of Appeals.
Mr. McDermott’s practice focuses on commercial litigation and appeals. He has extensive experience representing owners, general contractors, sureties, subcontractors and suppliers on large construction projects in claims for payment, extra work and delays. He has also represented parties to construction contracts on related issues such as labor and employment claims, real estate matters, insurance coverage and construction loans. Prior to joining Albanese & Albanese, Mr. McDermott was a Principal Attorney at the New York City School Construction Authority.
Mr. McDermott has addressed industry groups such as the American Bar Association on construction law issues. He has also been counsel on some of the leading construction law cases in New York State.
Mr. McDermott is also an arbitrator with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.
